Many expect U.S. Recession will be strongly felt in Canada

(April 23, 2008) A new survey by Phoenix SPI finds that a large majority of Canadians expect the economic recession in the United States to have a significant negative impact on Canada’s economy. However, few plan on changing their spending habits in the face of the upcoming economic downturn.

Outcome of U.S. election deemed important to Canadians

(April 22, 2008) A recent survey by Phoenix SPI finds that most Canadians feel the outcome of the U.S. presidential election is important to Canada and Canadians. Moreover, when it comes to the preferred outcome, Canadians are far more likely to favour a Democratic rather than a Republican president.

Canadians pessimistic about ability to win in Afghanistan

(April 17, 2008) A new survey by Phoenix SPI finds that very few Canadians believe the NATO mission in Afghanistan will succeed in establishing a lasting democratic government in that country. Moreover, an overwhelming majority believes that once the NATO forces leave, Afghanistan will once again become a haven for terrorists.

Canadians want to keep politics out of the Olympic Games

(April 16, 2008) A new survey by Phoenix SPI finds that most Canadians would like to keep politics out of the Olympic Games, and do not want Canada to boycott the Beijing Olympics. Opinion is divided, however, over whether Tibet should be considered a part of China or an independent country.
